We gave the kids their Easter treats on Saturday morning.
Grady has been totally obsessed with Peter Pan. The first thing he asks for in the morning {after milk}, is for me to be Hook while he plays Peter Pan. We go through a battle scene that culminates in me getting knocked in to the water where the tick-tocking croc waits. Three minutes later, he asks me to be Hook again. He has been using some make-shift tinker toys as his dagger and I decided he must have some "real" fighting swords. He was extremely thrilled and has not been without the dagger in his hands except for sleeping. Elle got some Tinkerbell walkie-talkies. She has quickly picked up on proper CB talk, including phrases such as "Roger that!", "What's your 20?", and "All systems go." She likes to put one beside me or Steven, turn it on, then go outside and talk to us until we respond.
They also got a fun sprinkler that Elle tested out Sunday afternoon.
Grady tried to pysche himself up enough to do it.
After sprinkler time, we went over to my dad and step-mom's for dinner, bubbles, backyard playing and egg-hunting. This marked the second Easter that all the family was in the same place at the same time. As usual, it was impossible to get a picture of the eight grandchildren and the two grandparents looking and smiling.
And here's everybody. Dad, Sandi, all four children, four spouses, and eight grandkids. That guy to the right of me is my brother. He lives in Dothan. I do to. This was the first time I had seen him in the four months we've been here. Sad, but true. He is a CPA, so his own wife and son didn't see him that much over the last four months either. But now that April 15th has come and gone, maybe the visits will be more frequent. Does it make it worse to point out that he lives only 1.5 miles from me? I hear he's been doing some bike riding to stay active. Maybe he'll ride it the 1.5 miles to my house. The kids had a fun time together and the food was great. After we destroyed their house, we called it a night and headed home.
Steven and I decided we needed to "stay active" too, and have made a pact to get up in the mornings and exercise. We are 2 for 2. This morning my body said, "What in the world are you doing?". I literally have not done a sit-up or push-up in over 2 years. After two days every muscle in my body hurts. It was hard to hold my hair dryer this morning. Also sad, but true. But I am going to replace bad habit with healthy habit, one sit up at a time.
