Above Average

Valentine's Day:: I took all the gifts from the grandparents, aunts and uncles and put them in to one big package for each of the kids. Don't worry, we didn't take credit for your gifts, but it did mean Mommy and Daddy didn't buy a thing! (Actually that is a small story. I bought some jelly beans for Elle on Thursday but I ate them all before Saturday morning?!) Thanks family!

Valentine Fondue Dinner:: The menu consisted of ribeyes hot off the grill, cheese fondue with broccoli, asparagus, carrots and french bread for dipping. We saved dessert until Grady went to bed and had chocolate fondue with strawberries, kiwi, bananas, marshmallows, and pound cake for dipping. I'm not sure, but this probably contributed a great deal to my 8 pound weight gain at the doctor yesterday. I don't want anyone to think I am crazy about the weight thing. I understand that I am in the process of growing a baby and I want to gain weight. What I am a little concerned about is the rate of gain. There are some things you'd rather not be "above average" in, and this would be one of those categories. I'm now measuring a full week ahead (I was 23 weeks, but measuring 24) so we are either in for a humongous baby or he will arrive early. I am praying for the later option.

Sunday trip to Oak Mountain:: Beautiful weather, nice picnic lunch, but not before walking through a bunch of animal poop at the farm. Doesn't get much better than that. That little black goat was something else. And the peacocks are gorgeous! One even had it's tail feathers spread. Unfortunately, it only wanted to show the back side of it's feathers, so I did not take a picture.

Nice fresh haircut for little Grady man. Don't look too close. One of my many hats is also barber/hair dresser so my kids get free haircuts at home. They are too young to care. I am taking advantage. He does look pretty handsome though, if I do say so myself. He is also getting eight teeth at one time. All four molars and all four incisors (whatever ones are in front of your molars). And despite what the doctor's say, we've had a runny nose, diarrhea and slober like he was 6 months old. Even with all that, he's still a handsome little thing.

I know how you feel about the weight gain thing. I've gotten to the last month and just don't care anymore because what are you going to do? I'm always a little above average when getting "weighed in" averaging 4-7 lbs. each time (7 lbs twice!...yikes), but still on the high side of that 25-35 average they tell you is normal. We've been through it before and know it will eventually go away. Is that what you were sad about this week? I was really concerned by your facebook status. I hope you are doing okay, and know I love you girl!

My previous peditrician told me that there is no scientific proof that babies exhibit those symptoms when they are teething but his wife swore that all of their children did...he said that he was going to go with his wife and most all of the moms he sees and say that it happens!!!!
I hope you are feeling better. I was worried too about your fb status!!!
Are we doing the thing 1 and thing 2?

Fun pictures!! Valentine's fondue??!! Aren't you spiffy?! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and I'm so glad. I'm also glad that you ate those jellybeans :). And, I know it's not very nice, but I kind of hope you get to experience a 9-pounder like I have ;). And, I love you.

I am feeling your pain on the weight gain...at my visit today it was 4lbs in 2 weeks. Oh well. I am eating like a hog, so what can I say? Measuring a week ahead also. Love Grady's big boy haircut. Great job!

I've never tried Fondue- that's a fun idea. Also- I'm so ready for it to warm up so we can get to Oak Mtn. I'm super-impressed you cut hair- especially boy hair. I'm too scared- it looks great though!
